We are 32 days away from our 7th Annual WomenCook! – Dining for a Difference event. Each week, leading up to the event, we will highlight our sponsors and the chefs who will present their fine eats on May 2nd.
Mary is a returning chef to the WomenCook! event and has a very interesting background. She shares her interesting journey that led her from being a commodities trader to one of Denver’s most innovative chefs. To hear more, check out the video interview that we recorded last year. Of course this was before she opened her second restaurant, Street Kitchen Asian Bistro.
Parallel Seventeen is a neighborhood bistro and bar serving Pan-Asian cuisine with European influences. Since opening in 2005, P17 has been recognized as one of Denver’s best restaurants. The handcrafted bar serves some of Denver’s best original cocktails, in addition to an international wine list. Located in the heart of 17th Avenue’s Restaurant Row, P17 offers one of Denver’s most popular summer patios. Parallel Seventeen has all the elements of a fine-dining establishment, but still offers a friendly, intimate and casual atmosphere.
Mary’s second innovative restaurant, Street Kitchen Asian Bistro, opened in 2010. Street Kitchen Asian Bistro (STK) captures the vibrant cuisine of Asian street foods in the casual but hip atmosphere that Nguyen is known for. STK’s lively open-air kitchen is a tribute to the intimacy of street-side cooking that spills into the streets of Asian countries. The cuisine is layered with complexities and envelopes guests in the sounds, smells and energy of street cuisine from China, Vietnam, Japan, Thailand and Malaysia.
Starting from scratch and using the only freshest and highest quality ingredients, guests watch the food preparation, sharing in the experience from start to end. Traditional cuisine from five unique countries, food that has comforted billions of people, comes crackling and sizzling to the table and takes guests on a journey through the streets of Asia. STK is not just dining out. It is a destination.
