Colorado Gives Day started in 2010 as an initiative to increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving. The Community First Foundation accepts donations to the charity of your choice through GivingFirst.org with a goal to inspire and unite Coloradans in supporting local nonprofits. In 2010, 539 nonprofits participated and were gifted a total amount of $8.7 million from 12,540 donors. In 2011 these numbers dramatically increased: 932 nonprofits participated and received an incredible $12.8 million in donations from 27,127 donors. With a generous grant, FirstBank will cover credit card processing fees, allowing 100% of donations to go directly to the nonprofit programs improving the Colorado community.
Last year, Work Options for Women received an astounding $15,000 in donations on Colorado Gives Day. With help from you, we have placed over 42 students into employment this year; changing lives by transitioning students from a life of dependence to independence. We are grateful for all of your support. We truly believe in our mission to help impoverished women gain the skills and confidence they need to work their way out of poverty and become gainfully and permanently employed in the food service industry.
We have big plans for 2013. We hope to enroll 115 new students with a goal of 69 completing the program and 58 placed into employment. We aim to raise $20,000 on Colorado Gives Day to help us achieve these goals. Please think of joining our team of supporters dedicated to eliminating poverty and changing lives by making a donation to Work Options for Women.
Thank you to the Community First Foundation, FirstBank, and www.GivingFirst.org for sponsoring this special day of philanthropy and thank you to the generous Coloradans who continue to give of their resources to improve our community.
